What's New at Boca Raton Public Library
April is Earth Month!
April is a good month to think about sustainability, because April 22 is Earth Day, and your Library is offering a bumper crop of programs for all.

Speaking of crops, did you know that tea can be grown in Florida? Learn everything tea at three High Tea and History events on the 10th.

Tea and coffee are stimulating, and so is a good nature lecture. We're hosting several this month: Story Central Performance on the life of Rachel Carson; Thursday Night Speaker Series lecture about bonsai care; small group meeting on South Florida Natural Areas; and a Sustainable Yards Series program on pollinators.

For the younger folks, options include candle making (Teens); punch embroidery (Tweens),” and Crafternoon (Tweens).  Ages 6-8 will enjoy reading about sea creatures at My First Book Club, and learning to grow their own food at Farmer Jay’s Junior Sprout series. Ages 0-5 will enjoy story time with a special guest: the City’s Sustainability Coordinator, on Earth Day.

Library Team Member Spotlight
Ron Sterling
Library Assistant II
What I Do: Hello Everyone! I work in Youth Services. I enjoy teaching classes to tweens and teens. Usually my classes revolve around creative technology, photography or just pictures, paint and scissors. The little ones love when I read them stories on Saturday mornings about Pete the Cat, trains, rockets and other fun stuff!

Why I Love My Job: I love stories and pictures, the things that books are made of.  It's great to share books and stories with our young patrons. And lets not forget all the great Library people here at Spanish River and Downtown.

What I’m Reading Now: I am re-reading a book by the late American Filmmaker and Director, David Lynch. It is a quick read found in the Transcendental Meditation section, and it's titled, Catching the Big Fish - Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity.  A fantastic little book! Other books I have enjoyed in recent months from our collection are: American Values, Lessons I Learned From My Family by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Life by Keith Richards, and Just Kids by Patti Smith.
